The Columbia chapter of WoodmenLife® donated $200 to Senior Resources for the agency’s Senior Care Pantry. The pantry was established after the widespread flooding in October 2015 to provide non-perishable food, toiletries and household items to local seniors in need. Senior Resources now provides pantry boxes to those on the waiting list for Meals on Wheels.
“We provide boxes of foods that meet the specific needs of seniors. Many of them are on low-sodium or low-sugar diets, and many of them struggle to use a can opener or open difficult packages,” said Senior Resources Executive Director Pam Dukes. “This donation from WoodmenLife will allow us to purchase foods that are easy for seniors to open and safe for them to eat.”
WoodmenLife was founded in 1890 as a nonprofit. Its 900 chapters across the country share a national focus to fight hunger in their communities. The agency gives back to more than 700,000 member customers, who share a commitment to family, community and country, and the communities in which they live. With a legacy of financial stability, WoodmenLife offers insurance, annuities, mutual funds, and 529 College Savings Plans. To learn more about WoodmenLife, visit woodmen.org.
