Walmart Foundation awarded $15,000 to Senior Resources’ COVID-19 Disaster Relief Fund which supports our emergency response to local senior citizens in the wake of the COVID-19 crisis. In March, Senior Resources implemented the Emergency Senior Nutrition Program and over the past eight weeks our program has fed over 90,000 meals to Richland County senior citizens. This nutrition program provides five free meals per week at pickup locations throughout the county. With the growing necessity for meals in our community, this donation from Walmart Foundation will be used to address the immediate nutrition needs of local seniors during this pandemic. These funds will also assist in the aftermath of the pandemic, as we expand the number of clients that we serve through our home delivery program.
“Walmart’s support of our emergency services shows that they are more than just an essential business in this pandemic, but they are committed to providing services to those most vulnerable in our community,” said Andrew Boozer, Executive Director of Senior Resources. “It remains critical that seniors are provided the basic necessities for staying healthy and can engage safely with the community while practicing social distancing. Walmart’s partnership will be keeping seniors safe as our community continues to battle the impact of COVID-19 on older adults.”
With our clients being at the forefront of the COVID-19 crisis, we are committed to staying open at Senior Resources and providing local senior citizens the services they need. Thanks to this generous donation from Walmart Foundation, we can extend our disaster relief services to help all senior citizens in Richland County get emergency food assistance, in a safe environment. We are grateful for your partnership.Back to All News & Blog
