United Way of the Midlands has granted Senior Resources $89,834 in support for 2017-2018. The funding will be used to provide home care services, Meals on Wheels, and transportation and group meals at four Wellness Centers to local seniors in need.
“As a long-time partner agency of United Way of the Midlands, we appreciate their collaboration as we provide resources to the frail, elderly residents of our community,” said Senior Resources Executive Director Pam Dukes. “With this funding, we will be able to support and empower local seniors to maintain their independence in their own homes.”
Senior Resources’ Home Care program provides light housekeeping, assistance with dressing and cooking, and caregiver respite to home-bound seniors. The Meals on Wheels program provides daily delivery of a hot, nutritionally balanced meal to the homes of home-bound seniors. Senior Resources also provides transportation and group meals each day to those who attend the agency’s four wellness centers.
The funding received by Senior Resources is part of a total of $4,149,643 United Way of the Midlands is investing for its 2017-2018 fiscal year to improve the health, education and financial stability of individuals and families in the Midlands.
“We are proud to work with Senior Resources and support the vital work they do to support seniors in the Midlands,” said United Way of the Midlands President and CEO Sara Fawcett. “We share their mission to ensure that our community is meeting the basic human needs of our senior citizens.”
