Senior Resources received a $8,500 grant from the Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina to support the Meals on Wheels program. This generous donation will feed four senior citizens, five meals a week for a year. As we face this pandemic, the need to provide these life-sustaining services to our home-bound senior citizens in our community has nearly doubled. As the only provider of Meals on Wheels in Richland County, we are committed providing our elderly neighbors the services they need.
“We are grateful for the continued faithful support of the Sisters of Christy Foundation to address the issues of hunger and isolation among older adults experiencing or at risk of experiencing poverty in our community,” said Andrew Boozer, Executive Director of Senior Resources. “Access to nutritious food and social interaction are key factors in senior citizens being able to stay healthy and independent. This gift will increase access to these foundational needs, enabling seniors to prevent and delay the emotional and monetary costs of increased health care events and long term institutional care.”
The Meals on Wheels program delivers a nutritious meal each day to clients’ homes. The balanced meals provide one-third of the daily nutritional recommended allowances for home-bound clients. Support from organizations like Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina, enable us to continue our mission at Senior Resources. Through services such as our Meals on Wheels delivery program, we strive to empower local seniors to remain healthy and to receive the daily nutrition that they need, even as we face this global crisis.
We cannot thank Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina enough for increasing our ability to address the growing need for nutritional support among senior citizens in our community. We are grateful for your partnership!
