The Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina awarded a Caritas grant to Senior Resources. The $3,947 will provide a full year of Meals on Wheels service to two local home-bound seniors.

Caritas grants are named after one of the Sisters of Charity of St. Augustine’s guiding principles, in omnibus caritas, meaning “in all things charity.”

“Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina is proud to continue our mission of combating poverty with the organizations that have been selected to receive Caritas funding. These nonprofits have proven to be instrumental partners in South Carolina’s communities by providing services directly to those who need them,” said Tom Keith, president of Sisters of Charity Foundation of South Carolina.

The Sisters of Charity Foundation awarded Caritas grants to nearly 60 organizations across South Carolina that meet the basic needs of underserved individuals and families living in poverty.  In total, the foundation awarded almost $200,000 in the spring of 2019.

“We appreciate the support of the Sisters of Charity Foundation as we work to ensure that no one in our community goes hungry.” said Senior Resources’ Executive Director Pam Dukes. “For many of our seniors, Meals on Wheels service allows them to eat a nutritious meal each day without having to forego their medication or other necessities.”
