For the third Valentine’s Day in a row, we are looking forward to receiving love letters from across the country for our seniors. Let’s face it, getting older can be lonely. In fact, about 5,100 seniors in Richland County live alone and face isolation. DoSomething is one of the largest global organizations for young people to create social change. We have partnered with DoSomething’s youth volunteers to bring cheer to a lonely senior’s day. Each year, we have received hundreds of cards from young people across the country, beautifully hand crafted with messages of love and caring. Our seniors delight in receiving these cards, and we are more than happy to deliver them along with Meals on Wheels. The cards let the seniors know that they are not forgotten and that someone, even an unknown young person miles away, cares about them, and is thinking of them. What a wonderful way to brighten a senior’s day!
If your school, church, or youth group would like to send some love letters, set their imagination free, and then send them to us at 2817 Millwood Avenue, Columbia, SC 29205.
