Hello to new adventures

Sportscaster Ernie Harwell said “It’s time to say goodbye, but I think goodbyes are sad and I’d much rather say hello. Hello to a new adventure.”

As you may have read in last month’s newsletter, I plan to retire soon from Senior Resources. I’m committed to working until the Board hires a replacement, which they are in the process of doing.

Leaving Senior Resources is bittersweet. I have considered it my honor and my privilege to serve the seniors of our community. I cherish all of the moments I have had with them, hearing their stories, seeing their struggles, and being on the receiving end of genuine gratitude for the help we provide. We have a great team of employees here who also give their all in serving our senior clients. And we have built a strong, engaging Board who provide leadership and vision to the Agency, and have been a great help to me personally. I will miss the interactions with those in the community who have supported me and been a friend to Senior Resources.

If there’s ever a good time for top leadership at an agency to leave, I feel that it is now. The agency is in great hands financially and programmatically, and Senior Resources is poised to accomplish even greater things in the future. I am proud of all that we have accomplished during my tenure but I’m also excited to see where someone else can lead the agency.

And it’s time for new adventures! I plan to help take care of my new granddaughter who brings me joy every time I’m with her. I’m hoping that my garden will finally stay weed free this summer. And I’m looking forward to travelling and exploring new places.

So, I’ll not say goodbye. Goodbyes are sad, and I plan to stay attuned to the good work that Senior Resources does. So for now, hello new adventures and I will see you later!
