Providing an everyday need combined with enhancing the quality of life for seniors to create a powerful movement within the local community.
Columbia, SC, March 9, 2020 — Century Glass, a local South Carolina Glass Company, announced they have joined forces with the Department on Aging to assist senior citizens in the Columbia, SC area with broken glass. The Century Glass team is concentrating their efforts with The Department on Aging’s (SCDOA) mission, to enhance the quality of life for seniors in South Carolina by replacing broken glass in home windows for those 65 years of age or older, at no charge.
Randy Wright, Owner of Century Glass said, “last Fall we assisted one of our seniors in the community who experienced broken glass in her home. From there our team realized a need to help seniors in similar situations who can use glass replacement, but can’t afford it…”
Executive Director at Senior Resources, Andrew Boozer, told Century Glass, “often the seniors we serve have less than $40 of disposable income a month and have to defer home repairs like broken glass just to pay the bills. The program by Century Glass is more than just fixing a piece of broken glass, it is giving seniors pride in their homes and improving their daily quality of life.”
Century Glass’ program, Seniors Seeing Clearly, has already assisted more than 50 seniors since January 2020. Wright stated that this program will continue until the end of March 2020.
Kay Hightower, Program Manager, Supportive Services and Outreach Unit stated, “the Department on Aging was ecstatic when Century Glass called our office out of the blue and said they wanted to help seniors! They are wonderful corporate citizens.”
Century Glass and SCDOA are already making plans for this to become an annual program between the two companies. If you meet the qualifications set forth by SCDOA but are unable to participate this year, Century Glass is booking for December 2020.
If you would like more information on eligibility to have a broken window replaced by Century Glass, please contact Kay Hightower, 803-734-9903 for more information.
“…Century Glass is very excited to be working with the Department on Aging for this new, up and coming program for the community, with the chance to give back to seniors in need.”
