Federal Funding Freeze: What It Means for Senior Resources + 2/3 Update

Many of you have reached out about the recently announced Federal funding freeze and its impact on Senior Resources. Most of our programs utilize federal support as part of our diverse funding structure, and we are closely monitoring the situation.

At this time, the full impact (if any) remains unclear. We remain hopeful that we will have more clarity in the coming days with a pause on the freeze until February 3, 2025. In the meantime, our unwavering commitment continues: we are here, serving the seniors who depend on us, and proactively preparing for any potential changes.

We encourage you to stay connected with us for updates. Follow us on social media, visit our website to sign up for our emails (at the bottom of the page) so that you will receive the latest information. As soon as we have concrete details, we will share them with transparency and clarity.

Thank you for your support—together, we will navigate whatever comes our way and continue serving those older adults who need us.

February 3, 2025 update

Dear Friends,

Last week, I shared news about the announced—and later rescinded—federal funding freeze, along with my promise to keep you informed with transparency and clarity. Today, I’m grateful to report that, as of this moment, we are unaware of any immediate federal funding impacts on our programs.

However, I must also be honest with you: Many of the funding sources we rely on to provide essential services to seniors—making up 40-50% of our annual budget—were listed for review by the new administration. While these reviews have happened before, and the American people have time and again reaffirmed their commitment to caring for older adults, the future remains uncertain.

What is certain is our commitment to the seniors of our community. We will not slow down. We will not let funding uncertainty prevent us from delivering meals, providing companionship, offering transportation, and ensuring older adults receive the care they need.

That’s where you come in.

If you believe, as we do, that no senior should go hungry or feel alone, now is the time to act. Every dollar you give to Senior Resources stays right here in Richland County, directly impacting the lives of our neighbors. Your support not only helps us serve more people but also strengthens our ability to sustain our mission, regardless of external funding shifts.

Will you stand with us today by making a donation?

We are moving forward, but we cannot do it alone. Your generosity ensures we keep our promises to those who need us most.

With gratitude,
Andrew Boozer
Executive Director
